Pro-government supporters hold banners at a rally held in Riffa, south of Manama

The online publication Bahrainviews.com has posted a letter to U.S. Congress in which the citizens of Bahrain, as its signatories, denounce the actions of “peaceful protesters” against the kingdom’s civilian population and its police forces. They also accuse local human rights activists of misrepresenting the situation in Bahrain for their own political gain.  (Read a Viewpoint essay related to this post.)

Claiming to be subjected to “constant vicious vandalism and terror attacks,” the letter’s authors provide five sample videos of “daily atrocities committed,” pointing out that they are “wiling and able” to provide thousands more.

The letter refers to the opposing side as a “minority opposition [that] has no interest in reform and [has] more interest in political power and destroying the very ethics of our society.”

The letter’s authors single out for criticism activist Nabeel Rajab, “head of the illegal Bahrain Center for Human Rights,” as they refer to him, accusing him of engaging in political activity under the pretext of human rights.

”A Human Right Activist should not be a part of any party political organization, they should not advance any particular form of government or religion and should be impartial in their approach to political and social disputes that are not connected to fundamental human rights,” the letter states.

Human rights activists reporting on Bahrain, the authors write, should “treat everyone with respect, including those who disagree with them,” but “they have refused to listen to both sides.”

We believe you have been provided a very bias[ed] picture of the overall [situation] in Bahrain.

”We believe you have been provided a very bias[ed] picture of the overall [situation] in Bahrain, point out the letter’s authors in their appeal to U.S. lawmakers.

am an expat have been  living in Bahrain for 15 years ,i admit and confirm in front of God that this letter is the truth and all the truth ,and it is not the first time that Bahraini citizens try to show the truth of the events going on their country for a hope that the USA admit it ;however ,what i noticed is that the USA is pretending not to know the truth though the 100 videos that prove the guilt of the protesters in Bahrain.i really feel bad for this nice country and for its lovely people. As far as am concerned the king Hamad should be more firm with those terrorists ,he can’t continue reforming with a bunch of his citizens doing their best to destroy all that comes in their way.

  • Adam

1- There is no revolution in Bahrain, only terrorists related to Iran and Hizbulla.

2- Police in Bahrain never use any weapons except the tear gas and sticks

3- The terrorists occupied the main hospital and used it as base to torture there hostages, storing there weapons and fabricate lot of fake videos by using the storage blood in the hospital.

4- The terrorists killed 4 policemen, 3 of them have been smashed by cars and the 4th killed by burning him using Molotov.

5- The terrorists killed 3 expats (poor indian labors) in the first day of there fake revolution just to scare the foreigners and force them to leave the country!

6- The terrorists killed 7 civilians (a Taxi driver “75 years old” / 15 years old girl “living with diabetes and they refused let her enter the hospital only because she is from deferent religion” / a girl has beaten to death in the university and the other 4 killed because they refused to join with them.

7- The terrorists are using (Guns, Swords, Iron Skewers and Molotov) to kill civilians and policemen.

  • KlmatHaq

Humarights no longer trusted since has staff like Nabeel Rajab, the biggest lier, terrorisms, agent of Iran, doing horrible things only to destroy our country bahrain under cover of Humanrights,

  • Aalaa

Funny how you people still call your so called demands “Peaceful protests” done by “peaceful protestors”!!! let’s see now, spilling oils on the PUBLIC streets used by Public cars, causing accidents, horrible traffic jams leading to hatred.. stopping cars on PUBLIC highways used by PUBLIC , on RUSH HOURS causing traffic, delaying the CITIZENS of Bahrain from going home/school/work or simply enjoy the day!, burn tires and block roads used by US TRUE Bahrainis stopping US from living our daily lives in peace….! peaceful demands? seriously? Brainwashed IS the word! wake up people! your so called ”leaders” have their sons and daughters safe at home/studying abroad.. while they demand you to send your kids out on the streets to blow up gas cylinders and throw Molotov bottles, which are BY THE WAY, in case you don’t know ;) , are home made by the “peaceful protestors” .
Dear MR. Salabandan, until you can PROVE that Al Khalifa are paying 450000++ LOYAL Bahraini citizens, YES MR. John :) who attended al Fateh gathering, until you and whoever is claiming that nonsense can prove it, stay home and keep working ;)  GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT before publishing them on public internet, at least for the sake of your “BELOVED BAHRAIN” or is it so? J or simply use your brains before speaking! Unbelievable!!!
oh and maybe you should replay and watch our KING HAMAD AL KHALIFA SPEACH after Basyouni’s report, watch it again.. that is if you watched it to begin with. And since I know that neither you or your “peaceful protestors” will actually watch and listen I will have the honor to repeat his highness last sentence to you and everyone else,  He said and I repeat ” Iran interference with Bahrain internal matters is obvious to everyone who can read ARABIC” can you? or were you sleeping every time iran announces it on Iran’s public TV, through IRAN’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and others, over and over and over… or maybe you only hear what you want to hear? sorry, let me rephrase that,  what “THEY” tell you to hear :)
and to whoever is saying that government policemen are attacking/ killing “peaceful protestors”, go back to the cause before jumping on to results. Violence will lead to violence, like it or DON’T!
Stop calling out and speaking on behalf of “Bahrain’s citizens”.  Speak for yourselves!  AND ONLY YOURELVES! As a true Bahraini is certainly not the one who burns its streets and cause chaos and lack of peace to his other fellow citizens under the name of peace!  FOR OVER A YEAR!!
We ALL have demands and rights, which were ALMOST the same as your - “peaceful protestors” – demands at the beginning, or more likely what we thought were your demands until the truth revealed itself, thanks to Allah first then the wisdom of our government!
WE TOO want serious changes and improvements as you claim to protest for ;) .  Now, Close your eyes and imagine Bahrain if WE all protested for our demands as PEACEFUL as YOU do..!  WAKE UP!
STOP listening to the voices of evil whom you take as leaders! ! think for yourselves!  Look at your outside so called “leaders’” look at their countries!!  is that what you want Bahrain to be?! Well I’m sure true Bahrainis don’t
    J T.H.I.N.K J !!!!!
Yes We Are The True Voice Of Bahrain! And This Letter represents us!

  • Me

We ask you as Bahrainis to stop the interference in our beloved country, Let us deal with our OWN matters… We have a great king who is trying very hard to lead this nation to a great success, as for the people who your government are pushing very hard to help! They are also Bahrainis in with different agendas they are the followers of a regime who is responsible for all the instability in Arabian Gulf.

Am sure once we have the Gulf Union the region will be stabilized worry free….

  • Dn1987dn

we are the majority of bahrain and we agree that the letter represent our opinon
The opposition r going too far they r terrorist … Thy set fire on tyres , block roads , throw molotov on police officer and many others … All what we want a safe place to live in this will not happen as long as the government is refusing to take a serious step to stop them… We r sick and tired of them

  • uwhuw

protesters in bahrain aren’t peaceful , they are Terrorists , There is no opposition in world Destroy their homeland , the protesters Attack on the Sunni community mAttack on Asian workers , Attacking security men and …………..

  • Mansoor

Get out of the slavery of your religious leaders.  Dont destroy your homeland. Dont kill poor foriegn labourers  on the name of revolution. Revolution’s never come by killing and cutting tongues of poor labourers.

Tell your religious leaders. I cant kill , i cant destroy. Explain to them that if i will not kill and burn, nobody will come forcefully to stop me from destroying.

Hardwork is the way to dignified living.

Being part to take power from one to give another is not a solution its a stupidity.

  • Malkhawaja

This letter doesnt represent me as a bahraini citizen who is demanding our rights from this repressive regime

With the anniversary of feb 14 bahrain is entering marshall law again this time not publically announced … national guard is back in streets , checkpoints are set again and dawn raidings are back again

This regime is so obsessive with power they use lethal forces against unarmed people

We have the right to demand our own elected government, more legistive power parliment , fair juridical system along with security for everyone

  • Almustabsir

To the pro government thugs, I would like to say: AL KILABU TANBAH WAL QAFILA TASEER. Lies never stand up against truth. The stupid King Hamad also was condemned by his own mercenary Prof. Basiouni. Everyone knows the truth in Bahrain. Really funny the Gov thugs when they say they can provide thousands of photos, I say, bring it on, prove your self. Youtube is there, so come on post what ever you have. while we have thousands of photos and vids everywhere in the net shows the atrocities committed by gov foreign police and thugs against peaceful protesters. Any way, in every war all parties think they are right. In Bahrain, we are plagued by Al-Khalifa family, but eventually in the near future, this brutal family will fall from power, and the Bahraini people will rule the country not Iran or any other foreign country. If you believe it AHLAN WA SAHLAN, if you don’t TIG RASEK ALA AQRAB TOFA.

The letter on represents a small number of Bahrainis who support the ruling Khalifa regime and see the protests for democracy and political freedom as a threat to their way of life. The vast majority of Bahrainis have been oppressed by the regime and have no say in the way their lives are controlled. The letter denouncing the protesters is nothing more than a childish complaint by the “haves” against the “have nots”.

Is the poll closed?  Why is it closed before 12th Feb? Very strange indeed!! Anyways, just wanted to add that we totally agree with every word in this letter and I wish the international media realize that and differentiate between the terror acts of those extremely violent rioters and other Arab springs in the region!  Wake up and open your eyes to see the truth!  Don’t just judge and condemn without digging for the truth yourself just because it’s trendy to do so (If you know what i mean!)  To understand Bahrain’s sectarian protesters, you need to go very deep into their history and beliefs to know what is the real aim here!  I just hope our Bahrain goes back to what it was before Feb 14th with better reforms!  I am with reforms but against those terrorists who are destroying the country!  Yes we are not perfect here in Bahrain but we will fix our problems ourselves without the interference of anyone else!

    • Middle East Voices

The poll is still open – and will stay open until we have a special feature Tuesday to mark the anniversary of protests in Bahrain – look for the announcement in our Twitter feed and on this site.

Unfortunately, Al Wefaq considered by foreign organizations as a national opposition party, but in fact, it is an extension for Iranian greed and hostility and part of Lebanon Hezbollah.  If they were a real national party and having legal demands, then, every citizen of Bahrain would supported them. One more fact about Al Wefaq, telling lies is the soul of their religious belief, so they don’t mind in fabricating false stories and telling lies about the Government of Bahrain. Can you as them a simple question, why they support Assad of Syria.

I have not seen him whisper on IRAN. Now lets get to the CRUNCH! IRAN IS involved like it, deny it it is a FACT! you follow the Ayatollah Khameni he is your spirtual leader and what he says is what you do, so please lets stop this rubbish and mockery.

Shame on you for what Allah has given you and yet you always look up for more. You have nothing to say, say nothing at all. We are fed up of listening to you for a year when people around the world are seriously oppressed and tortured and starving. You have no idea what you have had until its gone. Thank you for telling the world that there is a huge distinction between what happened with other countries in the Arab Spring and Bahrain, where the so-called opposition movement is deformist, hateful, power-hungry, sick people who send kids to stone and hurt others, cause chaos and crime on a daily basis. Hypocrites who lost all form of respect for their agenda-driven cause.

as mr Bassuni said in a tv interveiw:: Hamad has chosen the unity of his family instead of the unity of his country…
from the previous comments you can notice that there is a problem..so everyone should be heard…to find out the trouth

for me i am waiting for ten years for a house for my family…i have to pay for 7years for a small land…then pay for the rest of my life to build it ..i have to pay for my car for 7years…
there is more and more and there are worse families who has nothing
i have one thing to say::
just ask those who said “yes” if they have a good job, a suitable house, a good salary, a car,,,,,
    definitly the answer is “yes”
we live as the last class in this country..it’s not more just food, house or money,,, it’s a matter of respect, humanity, beleif of the power of change to freedom

    • Aalaa

And demanding change is by burning tires? Blocking roads? Or maybe terrorising students at schools :) I wonder how you people think!!! Hamdulilah the truth is revealed now. And the whole world knows what was the reason for your so called “revolotion” good bless Bahrain and protect its faithful citizens.

  • Malak

This is not the truth at all . Bahraini protesters is the most peaceful people in the world . They didn’t do anything harm to anybody .. Please , don’t believe all this liers … don’t persecute them more

The only crimes we see in Bahrain is AL Wefaq and Nabeel Rajab crimes of daily molotovs throwing, iron rod launchers and burning of police cars .they are Stealing of extremism on all sides right to self-determination,Their goal was not freedom of reform is not a terrorist but a dependency of Iran. They Confirmed every day repeated their crimes and violations of human rights

  • ashraf abdo

The Bahraini people rose up against the ruling al khalifa
dictatorship because of decades of repression and social injustice .do you know
that most of the Bahraini people are barred from joining the police, the
army and high-ranking posts in the country just because they are Shia Muslims!!

    • muneeraaziz

I am glad they never allowed you otherwise you will present Bahrain on a silver plate to Iran. Thank God Al Khalifa didn’t give you a chance.  That would have been their biggest mistake. They given you ministrial positions, scolarships and land that other Bahrainis did not get. But what did Nizar Al Baharna do? He conspired against us with America and Iran even though he had it all. You people will never be happy, it is in your DNA.

  • The big left nut

Funny how these govt loyalist always fail to mention the 63 people killed to date, how they fail to mention that a woman has been imprisoned for months for listening to a revolutionary song,to them it is justifiable for their so called ” brainwashed” kids to be killed by the Bahrain police, not to mention mass punishments by the moi on shia villages where a few lives were lost due to suffocation by teargas. Besides the Bahraini police arnt exactly the most proffessional when it comes to dealing with such situations, as for the corpses of the protestors, nothing beats Bahrain when it comes to torture and mutilation, the pics of the dead to back it up, of course govt loyalists deny any of this happening passing it off as photoshop or pictures from Palestine, meanwhile a few kilometers away a shia family burries another body. For the second year Bahrain is indeed shouting in the dark.

    • muneeraaziz

Out of the 63 people did you count the 800 plus both killed and maimed policemen from your molotovs? Did you count the lady whose head was pierced with your iron rod? However I am sure you included the people who died natural deaths in Salmaniya or those you killed and thrown on the beach or other places because they begged to differ with your revolutionary ideas.   Truth is you cannot wait for any one to die to add them to your list of so called martyrs. However this is a known fabrication like all your fabrications that people have become accustomed to. I say stop telling lies. Allah is watching you and your will burn in hell for all your atrocities against Bahrain.

  • Muneeraaziz

Poll or not, the truth is out for all to see, daily molotovs being thrown at police and innocent bystanders and civilians, orders received from Iran and carried out by Isa Qassim, example of which is a call to crush and kill policemen.  And so on.  If the world doesn’t see what is going on in Bahrain then this poll will serve nothing.  The innocent majority of Bahrain including expats are being held at ranson by the renegade minority who sold their souls to the devils of Iran.

I totally agree with the contents of this letter, I am a Bahraini mother who suffered during the past 12months from the violence of the so called peaceful protesters. At the start we all sympathaised with their reform demands, but later on they have shown the ugly part of their protest were they have threatened the residents, killed policemen, blocked the roads, spilled oil on roads for the sake of killing road users. These are only few actions the protesters used to terrorize the people of Bahrain. Al wefaq is a terrorist group and cannot be considered a national opposition.

    • John

please stop this “call out the wolf” attitude I was here at the time and later. You didn’t sympathise with their reform demands. Probably you were with Al-Fatih group that gathered with their own demands : Don’t give them their demands !.

Bahrain Government has accused them of being with Iran and said they had outside agendas (Egyps , Yemen and others did the same !). However even the BICI report said that Iran was not involved.

Your state TV fabricated pictures and made their own trials to athelets, doctors and many more calling for the ultimate punishment even before any legal trials took place !

And for closing roads. The government has been keeping the pearl roundbout closed for so long and they keep closing roads when they desire so without any reasoning.

About killing policemen , I am yet to see one of those policemen go into a “real”trial as even as the trials took place for killing protestors they were not in prison while a mother was in jail for so long merely for listening to a caset in her car.

FAIQA STOP SPREADING THE OBVIOUS LIE ! WE KNOW THE TRUTH !

I’m not pro-government just by chance. I have demands from the government, from the opposition and from the international activists… I’m exist, so don’t ignore me. COPY IF U AGREE ME.>>

Nabeel Rajab is the biggest lier. He brainwash youngsters and incarge them to attack Bahrain Security Police with molotov cocktails and steal rods, and he also encourage teenagers to block highways and roads by burring tires, steel chains, spilling oil and burning trash bins.
He always seeks casualties from protesters side so that he can get support from HR organizations.

This person is unti-Humen right activest.

Whose revolution? Iran dictated revolution to take over Bahrain? Who are you kidding? !You are a brainwashed group who have no loyalty to Bahrain, only to your masters in Iran.  All Bahrainis have similar needs and aspirations, however we don’t destroy our country to negotiate with the government. The real people of Bahrain ie 400,000+ stood in Al Fateh mosque saying WE ARE HERE!! If you don’t like Bahrain, go to your dictators in Iran where you will be hanged in the middle of the street for doing a fraction of what you have done to our country Bahrain.  I pity you because you have lost your way and no longer can distinguish right from wrong.

        • Fffffsaf

I pity for your belives that even proff basyoni saud that iran is not involved in bahrain situation. But ur so in denial about bahrain, that you want to throw all this government shame on others. First of all our loyalty is for bahrain not to this government, and by fighting this corrupted government is a prove for loyty because unlike you we speak aginst every wrong in this country not when we are told to open our mouths to show others we can bla bla. 400 ? I respect your research about that, why dont we have an election and see who wins, if ur so sure its a big amount and we are a minority . I pity you so much because there are people who fought for freedom while you are chasing slavory.

          • MnM

Being loyal to the country doesnt give you right to attack citizens who are pro ( by calling them gov thugs ), burn their properties. You guys also kidnapped Al-arabia channel’s, murdered expats … Because of you people many tourists like me cant move safely! Because of you all we cannot plan any event in Bahrain. There is no doubt that Iran is part of all this! before 14 feb 2011…we use to see stickers on so called these protesters…and those stickers were of Hizbullah, Khomaini and many others who hardly looked Bahraini! So tell me little fellow, what the hell were these faces are doing in Bahrain and why did they remove them? Why Iranian channels were so interested to spread rumors about Bahrain’s condition?

You guys have done more terrorism acts than a revolutionary act.

Be thankful to what you have. I am also sure that many of u want revolution… but unfortunately you guys are just being used by terrorists and yes you can see it with your own eyes!

Human rights members worked for months and months…and came up with a resulting report..that alwefaq and its crazy members didnt accept….they didnt accept it even before it comes to the public…however..it is an official united nation members…

    • http://twitter.com/Trackerinblue Human Being of Peace

you must have read the proven false version in the GDN or from the IAA because that “report” was NOT what the UN put out and the UN themselves published a response to the falsification of the Bahrain gov version of it. How can u actually believe that? There seems to be a fundamental inability of the regime supporters  to see the reality of what’s going on in Bahrain. This is an incomprehensible thing to many. It’s what makes people ask, “what are you getting paid or what benefit do you think you’ll receive for saying delusional things like that?” There is simply no foundation, whatsoever, for this and other charges & beliefs about the protest movement.

Not to mention the oil spelt on roads and burning tires poisioning our environment.  You and your group has made the lives of Bahrainis and expats alike a misery for the past year and now you dare say Al Khalifa’s crimes? Is that the lines taught to you by your masters? Shame on you ignorant people who don’t deserve to live in Bahrain.  Al Khalifa’s have given you too much time and respect that you don’t deserve but inshalla God will give us justice as far as the terrorists are concerned ie the people you represent and Iran.

You are people who have lost sense of justice and fairness and have no notion of respect for others yet you talk about dictators!  I say again go to your mother Iran where I dare you to be able to live.
